Law students at the College of William & Mary are volunteering their time this Election Day to help local residents make sure their votes count.
Students from the college’s Marshall-Wythe School of Law will operate the W&M VOTEline voter assistance hotline from 8 a.m. until polls close at 7 p.m. today to help answer any questions residents may have about the voting process.
Sponsored by the William & Mary Election Law Society, VOTEline has been in operation since November 2007. Citizens can call the non-partisan hotline to request information or assistance regarding voting rights.
“Our goal is to ensure that everyone properly registered to vote can do so,” law student and VOTEline co-coordinator Jonathan Gonzalez said.
Residents can reach the VOTEline at 221-2890.
