Riders were escorted off Apollo’s Chariot this afternoon when a minor electrical issue caused the ride to shut down.
Apollo’s Chariot, which celebrated its 15th anniversary in March, closed at 3:45 p.m. today because of a minor electrical issue. There were guests on the ride at the time it stopped, and Busch Gardens officials escorted the riders off without injury.
Maintenance workers were able to get the ride back up and running after about 45 minutes.
“All ride attractions are inspected daily by trained technicians to ensure they are operating properly,” said park spokesman Kevin Crossett in an emailed statement. “Ride safety systems are designed to exacting standards; when a shutdown does occur, it is an indication that these systems are working properly.”
Crossett was unable to provide additional information about the number of riders who were escorted off, how they exited the ride, the ride’s capacity, or whether the afternoon’s rain had anything to do with the issue.
