Due to inclement weather associated with Hurricane Arthur, York County officials announced Thursday the 8K run and 5K walk and the parade scheduled for Friday in Yorktown have been canceled.
The fireworks remain scheduled for 9:15 p.m., however county officials will meet and make a determination by 2 p.m. Friday as to whether they will happen. When the determination has been made, the county’s website and social media pages will be updated.
Showers and thunderstorms are forecast for Thursday night and Friday morning due to the storm. The National Weather Service predicts three quarters of an inch to one-and-a-quarter inch of rain to fall on Yorktown between Thursday evening and 8 a.m. Friday.
Conditions are predicted to be clear Friday night with a low around 63 and a north wind around 10 mph.
