The York Foundation for Public Education has awarded continuing education scholarships totaling $8,800 to 22 York County School Division employees.
The scholarships were distributed to 17 teachers from eight YCSD schools, four paraeducators from six YCSD schools and a non-licensed staff member. The teachers received money from a pool of $7,000, while the paraeducators received a total of $1,400. The non-licensed staff member received the Steve Staples YCSD Employee Scholarship, which is worth $400.
The scholarships are available to all YCSD teachers, paraeducators and employees who want to continue their education. A total of 31 YCSD employees from 10 schools and the school board office applied for the scholarships, according to a news release from the York Foundation for Public Education.
A panel of judges, all of whom are trustees of the York Foundation for Public Education, selected the winners.
The scholarship winners are as follows:

- Stephen Stubbs, teacher at Grafton High School
- Myrna Syamara LaManque, teacher at Mt. Vernon Elementary School
- Tracy Buckley, teacher at Mt. Vernon Elementary School
- Stacy Powell, teacher at Tabb Elementary School
- Kathryn Kryscio Burr, teacher at Tabb Elementary School
- Rachel McBride, teacher at Tabb High School
- Lynn Shematek, teacher at Tabb High School
- Joyce Kuberek, teacher at Tabb High School
- Teresa Foret, teacher at Seaford Elementary School
- Linda Ward, teacher at Seaford Elementary School
- Trisha Mohrhusen, teacher at Seaford Elementary School
- Katie Gaylord, teacher at Waller Mill Elementary School
- Christie Simon, teacher at Waller Mill Elementary School
