Yorktown, VA 23692
A 20-year-old Seaford man died Monday night after he lost control of his Nissan Sentra on Wolf Trap Road, rammed into an oncoming vehicle and was ejected from his car.
Sgt. Michelle Anaya of the Virginia State Police said troopers were called to assist the York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office with the accident at about 10:04 p.m. Monday. Christopher M. Crawford of the 100 block of Winsome Haven Drive was traveling northbound on the 1500 block of Wolf Trap Road in a 2003 Nissan Sentra when he lost control of the vehicle and rammed head on into an oncoming 2009 Toyota Corolla.
Both Crawford and the 17-year-old driver of the Corolla—also a Seaford resident—were taken to Riverside Regional Medical Center. Crawford died of his injuries, while the 17-year-old boy was treated for minor injuries.
Preliminary investigations by troopers indicate that Crawford was not wearing his seatbelt and that alcohol and speed were contributing factors in the crash.
