WJCC Schools, JCC Supes, Williamsburg Council to Meet for Schools Budget Review

WJCC_James BlairThe Williamsburg-James City County School Board is scheduled to sit down for a meeting with James City County and City of Williamsburg officials to discuss the fiscal year 2015 budget and a fourth middle school.

The school board will gather at 4 p.m. Tuesday with the James City County Board of Supervisors and the Williamsburg City Council to go over Superintendent Steven Constantino’s proposed $121.45 million budget for fiscal year 2015. The boards and council will also review Constantino’s proposed capital improvements plan, which includes the planned fourth middle school and central office.

On March 4, the school board met to review a few options for a fourth middle school, all of which proposed the James Blair site be used for the new school. School staff met with James City County’s Planning Commission Policy Committee in December to outline funding needs for the fourth middle school. During the meeting, staff told the committee no funding would be sought for a school board and central office because the James Blair building would continue to be used for that purpose.

Now, the schools might have a new plan to build a $9.7 million building to serve as the new office.

The boards will meet in the cafeteria of the James Blair building at 117 Ironbound Road. An agenda for the meeting is posted on the school board’s website.
