James City County citizens will aid the James City County Planning Commission in its effort to review the county’s Comprehensive Plan.
A Community Participation Team comprising six residents – Yasmeen Coan, Allen Doucet, Elizabeth Friel, Susan Gaston, Jack Haldeman and Lisa Trichel-Beavers – will aid the county’s commissioners in reviewing the Comprehensive Plan, which guides development in the county.
The 2035 Comprehensive Plan, which will aim to lay out where certain types of development should occur, is expected to undergo a 15-month review process. The plan is required by state law to be reviewed every five years.
The newly formed CPT, which will also include four Planning Commissioners, will meet twice monthly. Commissioners Robin Bledsoe (Jamestown), Rich Krapf (Powhatan), Tim O’Connor (At-Large) and John Wright (At-Large) will also serve on the CPT.
The CPT will meet in Building A at 101 Mounts Bay Road. All meetings are open to the public. The committee will meet at 4 p.m. on the following dates:

- June 19
- July 10
The CPT will provide citizens and businesses in James City County many opportunities to participate in the review process, including through the internet, JCC TV programming and public meetings.
