A woman’s body was found floating in the water along Yorktown Beach at about 11 a.m. Sunday.
Lt. Richard Moore of the York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office said a visitor to the beach was walking along the waterfront around 11 a.m. and noticed the body. That person called 911. First responders determined the woman was dead.
Investigators have determined the woman was 73-year-old Rose Richardson of nearby Cook Road. YPSO Spokesperson Lt. Dennis Ivey said no foul play is suspected in her death.
Moore said the body was discovered in the water in front of the Duke of York Motel and the Yorktown Pub.
