
The York County School Division and Williamsburg-James City Public Schools have announced the cancellation of many Thursday after-school activities and events.
All events in WJCC schools are canceled, while all events beginning at 5 p.m. or later in York County are canceled. The Magnet Information Session scheduled for Waller Mill Elementary School has been rescheduled to 6:30 p.m. Feb. 19. Information regarding scheduling of school-based events or activities in York County will be released by the individual schools.
A WJCC schools spokesperson said school officials will monitor the weather and make an announcement by 5:30 a.m. if schools are to be closed Friday. If no announcement is made, WJCC schools will open as regularly scheduled.
The National Weather Service is predicting rain tonight, with snow and sleet also possible in Yorktown, where little or no snow accumulation is expected. In James City County, NWS predicts less than one inch of snow to fall before midnight.
On Friday, it will be mostly sunny with temperatures in the 40s.
