A 16-year-old James City County girl is facing one felony count of distribution of child pornography after she allegedly posted nude photographs of herself on Twitter.
Maj. Stephen Rubino of the James City County Police Department said the girl posted the pictures on Twitter on Jan. 29. He was unsure how many pictures were posted.
Police became involved in the matter when someone reported the posted pictures. The girl faces a single charge of distributing child pornography. Her parents are not facing any charges.
Rubino said parents should be aware of what children are doing with their Internet-enabled devices. He said it is prudent for parents to have access to accounts used by children to see what they are doing, as it is easy to get into trouble with technology.
Nobody else is facing any charges because of the posted pictures.
