By spring 2014, 43 lots in Westport at Ford’s Colony will be ready for home construction.
Meridian Land Company owns 372 acres at 3423 Westport in Ford’s Colony, which the company plans to develop into 87 lots for sale. The project will be completed in two phases, with work on Phase A underway now and slated for completion by spring 2014.
Meridian — along with construction company Stonehill Company and site work contractors Stanley Construction Company and Shaw Construction Corp. — will only do the site work; the lots will be sold to developers or owners looking to design and build their own homes. Of the 43 lots in Phase A, 34 lots are available for purchase, and the others have been sold.
The work being done now includes putting in roads and curbs, street lights and utilities, including water and sewer.
“Westport provides a unique opportunity for homeowners to live on very private, three-plus acre lots and still have access to Ford’s Colony and all of its many amenities,” said Mike Lang, senior vice president of Meridian Land Company.
In an interview, Lang said he is under the impression this is the last residential section to be built in Ford’s Colony and is the only section of large lots in the neighborhood.
