Starting Friday, Busch Gardens is bringing back Howl-O-Scream with a new twist on terror: four Terror-tories spread out across the park offering a variety of themed scares.
France, Italy, Germany and England will play host to the new Terror-tories.
With a throwback to the 1880s, when Jack the Ripper roamed the London streets, England serves now as Ripper Row and the serial killer is roaming the streets again. Authorities are on the streets in force, working to capture the killer—anyone looking suspicious may be nabbed.
Vampire Point in Germany is a vampire’s oasis—a vacation village for bloodsucking fiends waiting to make a meal of anyone tramping through their ghastly getaway. Vampire Point features Bitten, an 1800s Eastern European haunted house.
France is Demon Street and it’s burning to the ground. The air is filled with the smell of fire and the smoldering ruins serve as lights in the darkness. Fiery fiends stand ready to grab unsuspecting visitors to roast on a spit.
Italy’s Ports of Skull serves as a ship graveyard where Jolly Roger has risen above the plot. Pirates’ spirits haunt the land, looking for trespassers to keel-haul. Cut Throat Cove, a new haunted house, features rogue pirates committing mutiny and murder in a market. Peg Leg Pete, Billy Bones and Blackbeard tell tales at the new Pirate Baarrrgh.
Replacing Bella Casa Gifts is Captain Barghbie’s Booty, a pirate-themed store. The store will have Howl-O-Scream-themed merchandise, including sculptures of the “eyeball rose,” and non-Halloween-themed items such as gold chains sold by the inch so purchasers can choose the kind of necklace they want to purchase and pirate toys and dress-up items. The store will also offer wine tastings by day and rum-drink tastings by night for visitors 21 and older; face painting will also be offered for visitors of all ages.
Three new diners provide a meal of sorts for visitors: Blood Banquet features an eclectic menu and a variety of paranormal characters; Fright Feast at Freakenstonia Castle offers diners the chance to eat the surgeon, his assistant and their monster; and Buccaneer Galley offers a pirate buffet-style captain’s feast.
Four returning haunted houses, three bars –including the new Demon Drinks—and three shows offer visitors an array of thrilling experiences.
Howl-O-Scream begins at 6 p.m. Friday and runs through Oct. 27. Busch Gardens is now open Fridays through Sundays only.
