New Principals, Assistants Named in WJCC Schools

More leadership changes are taking place as Williamsburg-James City County public schools get ready for the 2013-14 school year.

Nathan Leach, who had been reassigned earlier this month from an assistant principal post at Warhill to Lafayette, has resigned. Also tendering her resignation was Jamestown High School Assistant Principal Arletha Dockery. Both resignations are effective July 18.

Earlier, Hornsby Middle School Assistant Principal Wes Eary had submitted his resignation to accept a principalship in Amelia County Public Schools.

Clara Byrd Baker Elementary
Principal Phyllis Dorsey, formerly assistant principal at Stonehouse Elementary

D.J. Montague Elementary
Assistant Principal Elizabeth “Beth” Pell, formerly assistant principal at Yorktown Elementary in York County

Matthew Whaley Elementary
Principal Robin Ford, formerly assistant principal at D.J. Montague Elementary, replaces Scott Thorpe, who will resign effective July 31 and will take a leadership position at another school division.

Norge Elementary
Assistant Principal Veronda Matthews, currently WJCC Middle School Summer School Principal and former teacher at Stonehouse Elementary

Stonehouse Elementary
Assistant Principal Phil Griffin, formerly assistant principal at Norge Elementary

Hornsby Middle
Assistant Principal Mia Pollard, formerly assistant principal at Lafayette High

Jamestown High
Assistant Principal Crystal Haskins, currently WJCC High School Summer School Principal and formerly Student Advisory Coach at Toano Middle

Lafayette High
Assistant Principal Howard Townsend, formerly assessment and compliance coordinator at York High in York County

One additional assistant principal at Lafayette will be named at a later date.
