The York County Economic Development Authority has launched a website that lists a slew of information on local businesses with the hope that the directory will promote citizens spending money within the county.
The website, keepitinyorkcounty.com, will eventually have a page for each business in the county. Senior Business Development Representative Melissa Davidson said Friday the remaining businesses will be in the system within two weeks.
On the website, you can find contact information, a description of the business and links to the business’ website. Businesses are welcome to submit coupons and event listings, which will also be featured on the website.
“The message is to spend your money in the county,” Jim Noel, the director of the Office of Economic Development, said in an April interview. “It helps keeps tax rates low and supports existing businesses.”
The new website is the focal point of a campaign called “Keep it in the County” that was approved by the York County Economic Development Authority in March, where they allocated $9,100 for the development of the website.
Any York County business that’s interested in submitting coupons or other information is encouraged to contact the York County Office of Economic Development.
