A Williamsburg woman was taken into custody Friday after an investigation by the Williamsburg Police Department determined she had abused her infant daughter.
The mother, 30-year-old Vicky Lynne Mills, turned herself into police shortly after a warrant was issued for her arrest. She was then taken to the Virginia Peninsula Regional Jail, according to a news release from the Williamsburg Police Department. She is facing one count of abuse and neglect of children, a felony.
On Wednesday morning, the police responded to the 100 block of Merrimac Trail to a medical call for a one-month-old infant whose arm was possibly broken. Officers saw bruises on the left cheek, knee and thigh of the child. They also saw scratches on the forehead, bridge of the nose and right side of the face, according to the release.
The child was taken to Sentara Williamsburg Community Hospital, where x-rays revealed a fracture in the child’s left arm.
