Del. Mike Watson filed paperwork Friday with the State Board of Elections, including a required petition with signatures, to run for re-election in the Virginia House of Delegates.
Watson (R) was first elected in 2011 to represent the 93rd District, which includes Williamsburg and parts of City of Newport News, James City and York counties.
Among the bills Watson has introduced that have gone to law are a bill that clarifies language in the Virginia code requiring background checks for anyone who works, volunteers or provides contract service to a children’s residential facility, and a bill that clarifies that tourism zones get 1 percent of a sales and use tax levied on transactions in the zone.
“I’ve worked to encourage job growth and a highly qualified workforce in Virginia while also addressing concerns that are specific to our area. I hope that I’ve earned the support of my 93rd district neighbors to send me back for second term,” Watson said in the news release.
He lives in James City County with his wife and children and is the founder and president of Control Automation Technologies Corporation, a company that calibrates precision equipment with various uses, including manufacturing and municipal services.
