Two bulls escaped from their owner in James City County over the weekend.
County police received reports March 3 and 4 about the bulls running loose on Forge Road in the Upper County. One bull has since been shot to death by the police, while the other is still on the loose.
Maj. Stephen Rubino of the James City County Police Department said when officers responded to reports of one of the bulls on the road, with several motorists almost crashing into it, they encountered the owner of the bull who was trying to gain control of the animal. The animal’s response was aggressive, so officers received written permission from the owner to kill it.
The other bull has yet to be found and has not been seen near the road. Authorities have not received any complaints about the second bull, Rubino said.
Anyone who sees the bull should maintain a safe distance and call animal control at 253-1800. Rubino said to not approach the animal.
