The York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office has released the identity of the man they arrested last night at the Bargain Box on Dare Road after an alleged burglary.
Joseph E. Hansford Jr., allegedly broke into the Bargain Box and has been charged with one count of burglary. Authorities are still looking for a second man who they believe was involved in the burglary, according to a news release from Sheriff’s spokesman Deputy Mike Russell.
The break-in caused Dare Elementary School to be locked down while sheriff’s deputies surrounded the Bargain Box after receiving a report of a potential burglary. After a search of the surrounding area came up empty, the lockdown was lifted.
Anyone with information on the second suspect is asked to call Crime Line at 888-LOCK-U-UP (888-562-5887).
