The College of William & Mary has ranked high as a best value school and as a producer of Peace Corps volunteers.
The Princeton Review ranked the university as fourth best value among the nation’s public colleges and universities. The report, announced Tuesday, looks at academic excellence, cost, financial aid and other factors at 150 universities and colleges across the country. W&M’s ranking improved over last year, when the university was ranked sixth. The top spot went to the University of Virginia.
Another ranking released Tuesday showed W&M is one of the nation’s top producers of Peace Corps volunteers. The Peace Corps’ ranking of its top 25 medium-sized universities placed W&M ninth, tied with the College of Charleston.
Since the Peace Corps’ inception, 588 W&M alumni have served with the organization. This marked the 11th consecutive year the university was included in the Peace Corps’ top 10 list of medium-sized schools. The list was topped by Western Washington University, followed by American University, George Washington University, Cornell and the University of Vermont. More than 8,000 volunteers are currently working in 76 countries around the world.
