James City County Police assisted members of the Virginia Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control search a county residence Thursday for charges related to moonshine, resulting in an arrest.
An ABC press release said authorities executed a search warrant and arrested 64-year-old Ronald Leroy Lassiter, a county resident, and charged him with five counts of possession of untaxed alcoholic beverages, five counts of sale of alcoholic beverages without a license and two felony counts of sale of alcoholic beverages while in possession of a firearm.
During the search, ABC agents seized three untaxed gallons of moonshine, four firearms, various taxed beers and spirits and more than $4,900 cash. The search came after a complaint led to the ABC Hampton Regional Office and Special Operations Division engaging in a year-long investigation.
Lassiter is currently being held at the Virginia Peninsula Regional Jail on a bond of $3,500, according to the news release.
