First Night Williamsburg to Celebrate 20 Years

First Night Williamsburg will celebrate its 20th anniversary this year, welcoming 2013 with a full schedule of family-friendly performances and activities.

More than 40 acts will perform throughout New Year’s Eve at various locations in the City of Williamsburg. The celebration, which has attracted more than 120,000 guests over the years, begins at 3 p.m. with kids shows. The main stages open at 6 p.m., and the grand finale — featuring a medley of patriotic tunes from the group Men Who Sing and fireworks — begins at 11:30 p.m. at The College of William & Mary’s Zable Stadium.

Karen Peifer, the public relations chairwoman with the First Night Williamsburg Board of Directors, said the festivities attract about 6,000 people annually from up and down the East Coast.

“It’s sharing the entire Williamsburg-area story that makes for a nice visit for out-of-towners,” Peifer said.
