Once again our readers and listeners proved they are an absolutely creative bunch. You make it very difficult to choose just one winner, but since that our rule we had to abide by it. Know it was very, very close and came down to a vote separating the winner of our Fourth Annual Holiday Haiku competition, Pamela Mason of Yorktown, from the runners-up. For her effort, she’s won a wonderful spa package gift certificate from Salon Vivace in New Town.
It was a fun haiku, which touched on something we’ve always wondered about how Santa copes with that whole chimney entry thing. Pamela’s 17 syllables put it all in perspective:
Santa down chimney
Fire in fireplace burns
Ouch, Santa needs eggnog
And here are our runners-up, starting with the verses just behind Santa’s behind:
If only this joy
Could be put in a bottle.
Taken as needed.
-Karen Williams
Diane Postman really had us with her double dose:
Ho, Ho, Ho…ho-no!
Ugly Christmas sweater from
Crazy Uncle Joe
That was the first one, followed by this:
Hold on a minute…
Didn’t I give this to YOU
For Christmas last year?
There were a bunch more that received votes for the favorite of this year’s batch. Read, enjoy and thanks again to everyone for taking part.
