President Barack Obama took time out from his weekend debate preparation in Williamsburg to visit the local campaign office.
The Wall Street Journal and several other newspapers noted that the president stopped by the local Democratic field office on Sunday armed with pizzas to share with staffers manning the phone bank.
He also placed calls to two supporters during his short visit. He sat between Field Director Alexa Kissinger and volunteer Suzanne Stern, according to the James City County Democratic Committee.
The Wall Street Journal reported that Obama had also brought pizza to a local campaign office while visiting Henderson, Nev., two weeks ago.
Obama, who was holed up at Kingsmill Resort to get ready for his upcoming debate with Republican candidate Mitt Romney, told reporters Sunday that his debate prep was going well. Read a New York Times article here about his debate work this weekend.
The president arrived in Williamsburg Saturday and is expected to leave by Tuesday.
Obama will debate Romney on Oct. 16 at Hofstra University in New York in a town hall-style debate moderated by CNN’s Candy Crowley.
