Hometown: ShinDIG Event to Benefit Historic Jamestowne

Historic Jamestowne is hosting a fundraising event next week on Jamestown Island.

Guests can enjoy bluegrass music, delicious barbecue and beautiful views of the James River Wednesday, Sept. 26, on Jamestown Island during the ShinDIG at Jamestown. The event benefits the Jamestown Rediscovery Project of Historic Jamestowne.

All proceeds benefit the archaeological research, educational programs and operations of the Jamestown Rediscovery Project at Historic Jamestowne. This program is presented jointly by Historic Jamestowne and The Colonial Williamsburg Foundation.

The Who Ever Shows Up Band will perform at the Dale House Café on Jamestown Island. One of the featured musicians in the Williamsburg-based band includes archaeology director Bill Kelso on banjo. Other band members include Doug Burgoyne, guitar; Jack Cowardin, fiddle; Rob Foos, dobro; Bobby Hornsby, bass; Rennie Howard, banjo; Ellen Kelso, bass; and Steve Robertson, guitar.

There will also be a barbecue dinner, provided by Carrot Tree Kitchens. Beer and wine will be available for purchase, and seating will be provided. No coolers will be allowed. The event will be held rain or shine.

Gates open at 6 p.m., and the concert begins at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $27 per person and include the barbecue dinner. Tickets must be purchased in advance online.
