WILLIAMSBURG – The Williamsburg City Council will vote on the fiscal 2027 budget May 27 at 9 a.m. at the Stryker Center.
The special meeting was scheduled to give city officials and Interim City Manager Michele Mixner DeWitt additional time to review and revise the proposed budget ahead of the city’s June 1 charter deadline.
The proposed $121.15 million budget is up from last year’s $103.3 million budget. Funding is allocated among the General Fund ($56.03 million), Capital Improvement Projects ($41.63 million), Utility Fund ($12.19 million), Tourism Development Fund ($6.86 million), Public Assistance Fund ($4.06 million) and Quarterpath CDA ($380,000).
The budget proposal also includes $20 million in bond funding to support the possible construction of the new downtown library and a 7% water rate increase to fund water and sewer infrastructure upgrades. The proposed budget would take effect on July 1.
While no public hearing is scheduled, residents will have an opportunity to speak in an open forum portion of the meeting before the budget is considered.
The full proposed budget is available online.
