JAMES CITY COUNTY — Williamsburg-James City County Schools recently recognized its level teachers of the year.

Noting that student growth and achievement are a priority at WJCC Schools, the division said it credits its exceptional team of educators at every level to inspire students to dream big and strive for excellence. The following teachers represent “extraordinary educators serving as leaders among their peers.”

  • Megen Logan, first grade teacher at Clara Byrd Baker Elementary School, was named Elementary School Teacher of the Year
  • Rebecca Nixon, orchestra and guitar teacher at Toano Middle School, was named Middle School Teacher of the Year
  • Amanda Mullane, environmental science teacher and AP environmental science teacher at Jamestown High School was named High School Teacher of the Year

Mullane was also named WJCC Schools’ Division-wide Teacher of the Year.

“Our teachers encourage, mentor, and educate students every day, creating an environment in which discovery, development and dreaming big are the norm,” said retired Williamsburg-James City County Schools Superintendent Olwen Herron prior to her departure. “Our teachers make a difference in students’ lives by instilling a love of learning and helping students find their path to success.
