Local Father-Son Duo Launch Children’s Book Series Aimed at Creating Positivity

HAMPTON ROADS— Keven Pugh, a local young author is using storytelling to spread a message of positivity, education and family connection through a growing creative brand.

Keven’s World centers much of its mission around a series of children’s books designed to inspire young readers. The project, created by a father-and-son duo, blends storytelling with lessons about personal growth, learning and optimism.

“I was born and raised in Chicago. I experienced poverty, negativity, and fatherless children. I challenged myself to make a change. What better way to start then with my own son,” Pugh’s father said.

At just 10 years old, Keven has already released multiple children’s books as part of a planned series, with a goal of publishing 10 stories in total. The books are intended to be both entertaining and educational, encouraging children to explore imagination while reinforcing positive values.

The stories are part of a broader creative platform that also includes music, videos and apparel, but the books serve as a cornerstone of the brand’s outreach to families. Through these stories, Keven’s World aims to connect with younger audiences in a meaningful way, using relatable narratives and uplifting themes.

“Keven’s World is mostly geared towards the Pre-K through five. We focus on this age group, because this is the time in a child’s life where it all begins. Educating while teaching positivity in a fun manner where children can relate, and also receive the messages that are being taught would make a powerful impact in society and for the future. Keven’s World core values are Respect, Responsibility, and Trust. We learn and teach at a young age to have respect for yourself and others. Being responsible for yourself and your actions will reduce negativity, and keep a bad situation from getting worse,” Pugh’s father said.

The central message behind the books aligns with the brand’s overall philosophy of positivity and self-expression. Each story is crafted to promote confidence, curiosity and emotional growth, while also reinforcing the importance of family and community.

In addition to publishing, Keven’s World is expanding its reach through appearances and events, offering opportunities for children to engage directly with the stories and the message behind them. The interactive element helps bring the books to life, turning reading into a shared experience for families.

“The reactions from the crowd when Keven performs, the interactions with the children from the book reads, the website visits, the book sales, and the demands for the merch. This is our success story so far. This is what makes me keep creating. Customers stop by the Keven’s World vendor table and purchase a book, then stand there and read it. I see their faces light up, it brings joy to my soul,” Pugh’s father said.

As the series continues to grow, Keven’s World is positioning itself as more than a children’s book collection. It represents an effort to inspire the next generation through creativity — one story at a time.
