The Beach Boys to Return to Williamsburg Live June 22

NORFOLK — Virginia Arts Festival announced the return of The Beach Boys and the “Sounds of Summer” tour to Williamsburg Live Sunday, June 22.

The Beach Boys are led by Mike Love, who, along with longtime member Bruce Johnston, musical director Brian Eichenberger, Christian Love, Tim Bonhomme, Jon Bolton, Keith Hubacher, Randy Leago and John Wedemeyer.

The Beach Boys have sold over 100 million records worldwide and have received more than 33 RIAA Platinum and Gold record awards. The Rock And Roll Hall of Famers were also honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2001 Grammy Awards. In more than five decades of touring, The Beach Boys have performed more concerts than any major rock band in history.

Today’s tour follows the announcement of Beach Boys co-founder, lead singer, and chief lyricist Mike Love’s induction into the 2025 Songwriters Hall of Fame.

In addition to their tour, in May 2024, The Beach Boys documentary debuted on Disney+, offering fans a comprehensive look at the band’s journey and features never-before-seen footage, interviews with band members including Brian Wilson, Mike Love, Al Jardine, and Bruce Johnston, and contributions from other industry luminaries such as Lindsey Buckingham and Janelle Monáe. The documentary soundtrack, available via Capitol/UMe, includes classic Beach Boys hits and the bonus track “Little Blue Bathing Suit” by Stephen Sanchez.

2024 also saw the band release their only official book, The Beach Boys by The Beach Boys, in collaboration with Genesis Publications.

The Beach Boys perform on Sunday, June 22 at 7:30 p.m. on the Lawn of the Art Museums of Colonial Williamsburg. Tickets go on sale this Friday, Feb. 28 at 10 a.m. and will be available at vafest.org, 757-282-2822, or in person at the Virginia Arts Festival Box Office at 440 Bank Street in Norfolk.

The Virginia Arts Festival hosts the annual outdoor summer music event Williamsburg Live on The Lawn of the Art Museums of Colonial Williamsburg each June, where attendees enjoy great music, delicious local food truck fare, and local and regional craft beers and wines, surrounded by history.

Past artists headliners include Allison Krauss, Sheryl Crow, Norah Jones, Emmylou Harris, Lake Street Dive, Rhiannon Giddens, Jason Isbell, Martina McBride, Amos Lee, Chris Thile, Leyla McCalla, The Wood Brothers, Shovels & Rope, Kenny Loggins, Keb’ Mo’, Laufey, and The Beach Boys.
