Williamsburg Center for Dental Health recently completed a coat drive to benefit Grove Christian Outreach Center and 3E Restoration Inc.
This marks the third year the office, led by Dr. Stacey Hall, has held a coat drive in the month of December.
For the first time, the beneficiaries has expanded its reach beyond Grove to include 3E, a Christian ministry organization that partners with churches and faith communities to “encourage, equip and empower” people in need, particularly the homeless or those in extreme poverty.
The dental office, which held the drive from Dec. 1 to Jan. 1, doubled the number of coats it collected last year, increasing its total from around 100 to 200 items donated.
Patients as well as members of the general community who heard about the drive through social media stopped into the office throughout December to donate both children’s and adult coats.
“We have a really close relationship with Grove Christian Outreach, and now we have a close tie to 3E as well,” said Carolyn Purks, one of the front office employees at the practice. “It was a really great experience for us all to give back.”
Williamsburg Center for Dental Health is currently planning another drive for February, for which Dr. Hall will match each pair of socks donated with a toothbrush and tube of toothpaste, also to benefit Grove Christian Outreach Center.
