JAMES CITY COUNTY — James City County said motorists can expect a full, four-hour closure of Interstate 64 eastbound in James City and New Kent counties as early as Tuesday.
The county said as early as Oct. 21, contractor crews with the Virginia Department of Transportation are scheduled to implement the closure to support an overhead sign installation.
According to the county:
- All lanes on I-64 east are scheduled to be closed starting as early as Tuesday, Oct. 21, between 10 p.m. and 2 a.m., from Eltham Road (exit 220) in New Kent County to Old Stage Road (exit 227) in James City County.
- A detour will be in place directing motorists from I-64 east to exit at Eltham Road (exit 220), to New Kent Highway and Old Stage Road to access the on-ramp to I-64 east.
The county cautions all work is weather and schedule-dependent and subject to change. The backup date is Oct. 22.
