
YORK COUNTY — Due to the anticipated crowds on the Fourth of July, York County has announced several temporary traffic patterns in Historic Yorktown, in addition to street closures and blockades throughout the area.
The following streets will be closed to vehicular traffic all day:
- Zweybrucken Road
- Comte de Grasse Street
- Main Street (from Zweybrucken to Ballard)
- Beach Picnic Area (located at corner of Water and Comte de Grasse Street)
- Church, Nelson, Smith, and Bacon Streets (restricted to residents only)
- Water Street (from Comte de Grasse to Read Street)
- Ambler Street
Road closures for the annual Fourth of July parade will be in effect from 8:45 to 10 a.m.:
- Water Street from Read to Mathews Street
- Ballard Street from Water Street to Alexander Hamilton Boulevard
Free parking will be available during the day at York Hall, York-Poquoson Courthouse, County Administration Building, Riverwalk Landing Parking Terrace, Yorktown Battlefield Victory Center and other public parking lots throughout town.
The Yorktown Trolley will run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on a modified route. Public transportation users can track the trolley in real time via the ETA Spot App.
Evening parking will begin at 4 p.m. on the Yorktown Battlefield. The distance from the Battlefield parking area to the waterfront is approximately one mile, with a portion over uneven terrain. Battlefield parking will close to the public at 8:30 p.m., or once the battlefield reaches capacity.
Handicapped and special assistance parking will be available at Yorktown Middle School from 4-7 p.m. One designated escort can accompany their guest with a handicap. Users must be on-site and checked in by 7 p.m. to catch the shuttle to the waterfront.
The shuttle will make return runs from the Yorktown Waterfront to Yorktown Middle School from 9:45 to 10:30 p.m. It is important to note that once the shuttle parks at Riverwalk Landing, from 7:30 to 9:45 p.m., it will not make runs until after the fireworks show.
