
HISTORIC TRIANGLE — Here is how the July Fourth federal holiday impacts local offices and services.
James City County
James City County announced offices, facilities, services and libraries will observe the following schedule for the July 4 holiday:
County Offices:
Closed
James City County Recreation Center and Abram Frink Jr. Community Center:
Closed
Parks:
All County parks are open year-round.
Park Stores and Guest Services Offices:
Open
Jolly Pond Road, Tewning Road and Toano Convenience Centers:
Closed
Garbage Transfer Station:
Closed
Curbside Recycling:
Friday’s recycling will be picked up on Saturday.
Libraries:
Closed
Poquoson
All Non-Emergency Offices for the City of Poquoson will be closed on Friday, July 4 in honor of Independence Day, the city said.
Williamsburg
City of Williamsburg said offices will be closed on Friday, July 4, in observance of Independence Day. This includes all offices in the Municipal Building on Lafayette Street and Quarterpath Recreation Center.
Waller Mill Park will follow normal operating hours, 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Garbage will be collected on its regular schedule Monday and Tuesday; recycling is not scheduled for collection, the city noted. For water emergencies outside of regular business hours, on weekends, or on holidays, call 757-220-2331. For more information, visit williamsburgva.gov/publicworks
Those who need to pay a bill when offices are closed are reminded to use the 24-hour bill payment dropbox located at the front of the Municipal Building for city transactions. Payments can also be made online. The city cautions dropbox payments made on Friday, July 4,will not be posted until Monday, July 7.
York County
The following York County government offices and courts will be closed on Friday, July 4, in observance of the Independence Day holiday:
- County Government Offices and Courts
- York-Poquoson Social Services
- Virginia Cooperative Extension
- York County Libraries
- Waste Management Center Offices, Drop Off Area & Transfer Station
- VPPSA Compost Facility
Recycling will not be collected on Friday, July 4, and will be collected on Saturday, July 5, the county said. Garbage will be collected as per the normal schedule. Garbage toters should be set out on the regular collection day.
