GLOUCESTER COUNTY — A wanted fugitive was apprehended Tuesday by the Gloucester County Sheriff’s Office after fleeing a traffic stop.

According to the sheriff’s office, on Monday, May 20, at approximately 4:52 p.m., deputies observed a vehicle committing multiple traffic violations in the 5200 block of Hickory Fork Road. A traffic stop was attempted, but the driver recklessly pulled away after briefly stopping at the Waste Management facility on Hickory Fork Road.

Deputies followed the vehicle into a nearby driveway, at which time two occupants fled on foot, the sheriff’s office said.

The passenger was known to deputies as Timothy L. Pluim, who was wanted out of Gloucester County on multiple charges, including possession of Schedule I/II narcotics, multiple offenses of possessing firearms by a convicted felon and obstruction of justice, the sheriff’s office said. In addition, he recently fled from deputies in another incident and evaded capture.

After a foot pursuit, both occupants were arrested. The sheriff’s office said Pluim was found to be in possession of a loaded 9mm pistol at the time of his arrest.

The 32-year-old resident of Hayes was charged with feloniously possessing a firearm by a convicted felon. That warrant was served along with his four previously outstanding warrants. The driver, 36-year-old Ashley Nichole Brown, of Hayes, was charged with obstruction of justice, speeding, making an improper lane change, reckless driving and eluding law enforcement.

Both arrestees were denied bond and are being held at the Northern Neck Regional Jail pending court proceedings, the sheriff’s office said.
