GRAFTON — A fire caused significant damage to a home in the Barcroft Subdivision in the Grafton area of York County Sunday night.
According to the York County Fire and Life Safety Facebook page, personnel were dispatched to the report of a “residential structure fire” in the 200 block of Barcroft Drive just before 7:30 p.m. March 2.
Upon arrival, fire and rescue units observed fire and smoke conditions from the roof area and interior of the residence, officials said. Firefighting crews located the fire and brought it under control shortly after arriving on the scene.
There were no civilian or firefighter injuries. The occupants exited the structure prior to the arrival of Fire and Life Safety units, the department said. The residence sustained significant damage and the cause is under investigation.
Newport News Fire Department provided mutual aid assistance, the department said.
