
WASHINGTON, D.C. – William & Mary men’s basketball saw its run in the 2026 CAA Championship come to a close on Sunday night, falling to Hofstra, 92-61, in the quarterfinals at CareFirst Arena.
Graduate student Jo’el Emanuel led the Tribe with a season-high 16 points to go along with eight rebounds. He was 9-of-11 at the free throw line. Junior Tunde Vahlberg Fasasi scored in double figures for the fifth-straight game adding 12 points, including a pair of 3-pointers.
Hofstra (22-11) hit its first three from 3-point range in jumping out to a 9-2 lead on a Cruz Davis 3-pointer at the 17:34 mark.
A Jhei-R Jones 3-pointer followed by a driving Chase Lowe lay-up closed W&M (20-12) within a point, 15-14, seven minutes into the contest.
Davis scored 10-straight Hofstra points at one point and his 3-pointer at the 4:26 mark gave the Pride a 37-28 lead.
After a Reese Miller 3-pointer closed the gap to seven, 40-33, the Pride scored the final 10 points of the half to take a 17-point advantage to the locker room. W&M shot 50% in the opening 20 minutes, but Hofstra countered by hitting 10 3-pointers.
Junior Kilian Brockhoff started the second half with a driving lay-up to draw the Tribe with 50-35 just 10 second into the period. It would be as close as the Tribe would get as the Pride advanced to the CAA Semifinals to face Towson on Monday night.
Davis scored 18 of his game-high 30 points in the first half. He was 9-of-15 from the field and 5-of-9 from 3-point range. German Plotnikov tallied 17 points, hitting 5-of-9 from 3, while Preston Edmead and Biggie Patterson each scored in double figures with 13 and 10 points, respectively. Patterson finished with 12 rebounds in posting a double-double.
The Tribe shot just 34.8% (16-of-46) from the floor, including only 5-of-22 from 3. W&M was 24-of-34 at the free throw line (70.6%). Senior Chase Lowe and junior Kilian Brockhoff each finished with eight points in the loss.
Hofstra shot 45.2% (28-of-62), including 14-of-36 (38.9%) from 3, to go with 22-of-30 (73.3%) from the charity stripe. The Pride held a 41-32 advantage on the glass and scored 16 second-chance points.
