Newport News recently received the Bloomberg Philanthropies What Works Cities Certification, which has been awarded to more than 100 cities in the Western Hemisphere for their use of data to inform policy and decision making. Mayor Phillips Jones visited the 92.3 FM The Tide studio to discuss the award, the certification process, the statistics he pays the most attention to as mayor, and Newport News City Hall’s use of data and artificial intelligence.
