Former Hampton Mayor Donnie Tuck to Speak at VPCC’s 2025 Commencement

HAMPTON — Virginia Peninsula Community College announced former Hampton Mayor Donnie R. Tuck will deliver the keynote address during its 2025 Commencement Exercises Thursday at the Hampton Coliseum.

Tuck led the City of Hampton for eight years. He was elected to the Hampton City Council in 2010 and served as mayor from 2016 to 2024.

He has served as chair of the Hampton Roads Transportation Planning Organization and as a member of the Hampton Roads Military and Federal Facilities Alliance and the Hampton Roads Transportation Accountability Commission.

A native of Chapel Hill, North Carolina, Tuck holds a bachelor’s degree in public policy studies from Duke University and a Master of Public Administration from Old Dominion University. His professional background includes broadcasting, athletic public relations, technical writing and local government.

The May 15 event marks VPCC’s 56th graduation ceremony and takes place at 2 p.m. College officials invite families, faculty, staff and community members to join graduates in celebrating this milestone, the college said.
