Fire Damages Home in Yorktown Area Townhouse Community

YORKTOWN — York County Fire and Life Safety responded to a structure fire in the Wood Towne Quarters Townhouses community in Yorktown Friday evening.

According to the York County Fire and Life Safety Facebook page, units and personnel were dispatched to a reported structure fire in the 100 block of Englewood Drive just prior to 7:30 p.m. Friday.

Fire and rescue units found a working fire in the structure, according to the department. The fire was primarily in the kitchen area and was quickly brought under control, however, the townhouse sustained fire and smoke damage. Smoke alarms were operating.

The occupants had exited the structure prior to the arrival of fire and rescue units, the department said. There were no civilian or firefighter injuries.

The fire is now out and salvage/overhaul is underway. The American Red Cross has been requested to assist occupants.

The origin and cause are being investigated.
