Fire Causes Significant Damage to Home In the Tabb Area of York County Monday

YORK COUNTY — Fire caused significant damage Monday to a home in the 3400 block of Big Bethel Road in the Tabb area of York County.

According to the York County Fire and Life Safety Facebook page, personnel responded just before 1 a.m. on Jan. 13 to the report of a “residential structure fire.” Fire and rescue units from the department along with personnel from the Langley Air Force Base Fire Department observed fire and smoke conditions coming from the exterior of a large multi-story single family home. Officials said significant fire conditions were discovered inside the residence, including the living area, chimney, attic and roof area.

The occupants had safely exited the structure. and there were no civilian or firefighter injuries. Significant fire damage occurred to the structure. Crews remain on scene extinguishing hots spots as well as conducting salvage and overhaul. The specific cause has not yet been determined, according to the York County Fire and Life Safety Facebook page.

Additional assistance was provided by Poquoson Fire-Rescue, Suffolk Fire-Rescue provided rehab support, and fire station backfill coverage was provided by the Newport News Fire Department, according to officials. The York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office provided on-scene assistance and traffic control.
