YORK COUNTY — A Hampton man was arrested on Jan. 7 for the Nov. 21 robbery of the Walgreens located at 2400 George Washington Memorial Highway in York County.

According to the York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office, on Nov. 21 at approximately 3:25 p.m., deputies responded to the Walgreens for a report of a robbery that had just occurred.

Store employees told deputies that a male had entered the store, grabbed a bag from the shelves, and began to fill the bag with over-the-counter medications. According to the sheriff’s office, a store employee approached the suspect, and the suspect threatened to shoot the employee if they got any closer. The suspect left the store with more than $1,300 in over-the-counter medications.

The Sheriff’s Office Investigations Division investigated this offense, and on Jan. 7, the suspect, 40-year-old Charles Richard Beach of Hampton, was arrested.

Beach was charged with Robbery and Intent to Sell Stolen Property in Excess of $1,000 — both felonies — and is currently incarcerated in the Hampton City Jail.
