WILLIAMSBURG — The Colonial Williamsburg Foundation Board of Trustees recently announced finance strategist and Columbia Business School professor William Casperson as its newest board member.
Casperson retired in 2023 from Oaktree Capital Management, a global investment management agency, where he served as a co-portfolio manager for Oaktree’s U.S. Private Debt strategy leading the team’s investment professionals, portfolio construction and overall strategic management, according to the foundation.
Casperson was also a managing director within the Global Private Debt strategy, where he served on the investment committee for its Direct Lending platform, it added. Currently, he is an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Business at Columbia Business School, where he co-teaches a course on credit analysis focused on investing in below-investment-grade debt.
“William Casperson brings a wealth of financial expertise to the board. His career insights deepen the board’s already excellent pool of financial experts, and his passion for our mission furthers our ability to expand Colonial Williamsburg’s educational impact on the eve of America’s 250th anniversary in 2026,” said Carly Fiorina, chair of The Colonial Williamsburg Foundation Board of Trustees.
The foundation said Casperson’s appointment complements the board’s leaders who drive strategy supporting the educational mission of the world’s largest U.S. history museum.
“Colonial Williamsburg’s Board of Trustees comprises a diverse team of volunteer leaders who graciously give their time and talents to help the foundation’s dedicated staff tell a complete story of America’s founding generation. Mr. Casperson is a welcome addition to the board, and I’m eager to tap into his expertise to help us bring stories of America’s founding generation to life onsite and online for students of history wherever they live,” said Cliff Fleet, president and CEO of The Colonial Williamsburg Foundation.
