VPCC to Host Adjunct Faculty Job Fair on Oct. 24

HAMPTON — Virginia Peninsula Community College (VPCC) will host an Adjunct Faculty Job Fair on Oct. 24 at the Peninsula Workforce Development Center.

The event, scheduled from 4–8 p.m. at the center located at 600 Butler Farm Road, aims to give industry experts and educators who seek part-time positions in the classroom the opportunity to explore teaching opportunities at the college.

College leaders, faculty and representatives from the Center for Teaching and Learning will be available to answer questions and offer insight about the VPCC teaching experience, the college said. The job fair will allow attendees to learn about adjunct teaching opportunities in various fields, including Allied Health, Information Technology/Cybersecurity, trades programs, and many academic subjects.

Adjunct Faculty Opportunities in Workforce Development

  • Allied Health Fields (Requirements: Certifications in the field and 3-5 years of professional experience)
    • Certified Medical Administrative Assistant
    • Phlebotomy Technician
    • Certified Nurse Aide (RN with Long-Term Care experience)
    • Clinical Medical Assistant
    • Medical Coding & Billing Specialist
    • EKG Technician and Basic Life Saving (CPR)
  • Information Technology/Cybersecurity (Requirements: Relevant certification and 3-5 years of experience)
  • CompTIA Suite (Tech+, A+, Network+, Security+)

Adjunct Faculty Opportunities in Degree and Certificate Programs

  • Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, English, Visual Arts, Geography, Philosophy, Humanities, Religion and History (Requirement: master’s degree in the subject or a master’s with 18 graduate credit hours in the subject)
  • Electronic & Mechanical Engineering Technology, Automotive and HVAC  (Requirement: Associate degree or higher and two or more years of industry or teaching experience)
  • Drones & Unmanned Systems (UMS) (Requirement: High school diploma or equivalent and 5+ years of industry experience)
  • Health, Nursing, Early Childhood Education (Requirement: Bachelor’s or master’s degree depending on the field, plus 2 or more years of relevant experience)
  • Human Services, Paralegal, Emergency Medical Services (Requirement: Associate degree or higher with industry or teaching experience)
