WILLIAMSBURG — Cornelius Davis, a 20-year Navy veteran, is continuing his personal mission to serve as he opens JDog Carpet Cleaning and Floor Care in the Williamsburg area.
His days in the military were spent launching and recovering aircraft aboard aircraft carriers around the world, but he’s settled into retirement and is putting his passion toward his new career venture.
“I got an email about a webinar with current JDog franchises doing a Q&A and I watched it. I immediately knew this is what I wanted to do,” Davis said. “I chose JDog because of their military background. It gave me the opportunity to stay within the military community. I loved that the job would continuously allow me to serve. I have always had a passion to serve, especially my community and I am so excited to do so with this franchise.”
JDog Carpet Cleaning and Floor Care offers its customers carpet and rug cleaning services, tile and grout cleaning, hardwood floor cleaning, and light power washing. JDog takes pride in hiring veterans. According to Davis, it’s also the mission of the company to help veteran unemployment rates drop to the lowest they have ever been.
“Ninety percent of the JDog franchise owners are veterans. The other 10% are the immediate family members of those veterans. Our mission is to get the veteran unemployment rate to below 1% by hiring veterans,” Davis says.
For Davis, not only is it about hiring veterans, but proving to himself that he’s got what it takes to be an entrepreneur.
“Eventually, I hope owning my own business will allow me to spend more time with my family. It’s also a personal challenge for me to see if I can be a successful business owner. I need to deliver top, quality service to my customers,” Davis says.
