WILLIAMSBURG — Annual GIVE LOCAL 757 Day, April 23, promotes local philanthropy and nonprofit awareness, and this year, Grove Christian Outreach Center and Precarious Beer Project will be hosting a special event.
The event will be from noon to 8 p.m. at Precarious Beer Hall and guests can come anytime. The family-friendly event will include a live tally of funds raised throughout the day, with door prizes and giveaways, including a vacation package from Westgate Resorts and buckets of quarters to play the arcade games while the quarters last.
Donations can be made at any time online throughout the day.
Every spring, GIVE LOCAL 757 highlights nonprofit organizations throughout the Hampton
Roads region, creating an exciting day of giving and raising awareness of the issues nonprofits address.
The Give Local 757 Initiative is a program created by the Peninsula Community Foundation to spark and grow local philanthropy. April 23, will be a one-day, 24-hour fundraising event online.
The Grove Christian Outreach Center is also celebrating its 20th anniversary during the event, with over 20 years of service to the Greater Williamsburg community.
“The annual Give Local 757 event just happened to coincide with our official 20th anniversary week,” said Robin Jester Wootton, Development Manager for the Outreach Center. “And we are very grateful for the Williamsburg community and the ways it has supported our work for two decades. There are many needs throughout the Historic Triangle area as this vibrant area continues to grow. We are humbled and honored to be serving those experiencing food and housing insecurity and it’s only possible through the generosity of this community.”
The Give Local 757 event on April 23 is just one of the events highlighting the work of the Outreach Center and celebrating the ways Williamsburg continues to meet the needs of this area together.
An Open House is planned for April 24 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Outreach Center for those interested in a tour and finding out more ways to volunteer or donate to programs.
The Grand Opening Reception for the all-new Grove Gallery will be held on Friday, April 26, from 5 p.m. through 8 p.m. The Gallery will display original works by local artists who live in Grove or have been long-time supporters of the Outreach Center.
Throughout 2024, the Outreach Center will be celebrating the ways it serves the community through Fresh Food Room and Pantry, household and clothing closets, school supplies, Thanksgiving Market and Christmas gift distributions.
