WILLIAMSBURG — The Williamsburg Police Department said it is investigating an apparent murder-suicide of a married couple on the 100 block of Cutspring Arch.
At approximately 7 p.m. on Jan. 3, Williamsburg Police said officers were dispatched to a residence for a welfare check. Upon entering the home, they found a woman and a man, each with a single gunshot wound. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.
Police have since identified them as Norma Jean Clyde and Ury Eugene Clyde, both 87 years old.
After a preliminary investigation, police believe the husband shot his wife with a handgun
before turning the gun on himself. The handgun was recovered at the scene. There was no sign of struggle or forced entry, and a suicide note was found at the scene, police said.
Williamsburg Police said the incident remains under investigation. A medical examiner will determine the official causes of death.
