Williamsburg Regional Library Hosting a Comic-Con July 22

WILLIAMSBURG — Williamsburg Regional Library will host a Comic-Con for lovers of science fiction and fantasy on July 22 from 1-4 p.m.

A variety of events are planned, including a cosplay contest, Taiko drumming by Tampa Taiko, and a Filk performance by local musician D.J. McGuire. 

There will also be a discussion with David Piatak, a member of the SLS Aerodynamics Team at NASA Langley Research Center, on how close we are to reaching the Moon and Mars. 

New York Times best-selling author Alix E. Harrow, author of “Ten Thousand Doors of January” and “Spindle Splintered” will also be giving a talk at the theatre at 1 p.m., followed by a book signing.

“We’re so thrilled to welcome bestselling author Alix E. Harrow as a featured speaker at WRL’s ComicCon, a special, free fan event for all science fiction and fantasy lovers. Guests can enjoy live music, workshops and talks, games, activities, vendors, and a cosplay contest. This will be a fun afternoon sure to please avid readers, pop culture fans, and curious minds,” said WRL Adult Services Director Melissa Simpson.

Several local vendors will be present, and there will also be games, a writing workshop, fairy hair, face painting, henna and the gallery at the Stryker Center.
