HISTORIC TRIANGLE — Part beagle, part foxhound and all attitude, Ferris Bueller (no, not THAT Bueller but, definitely named after the ’80s icon) is a one-year-old pup who loves to head out on adventures and explore new places and meet people.
Ferris loves to visit parks, beaches, breweries and any other places where doggies are allowed. WYDaily is set to follow Ferris’ quest for the best dog-friendly places our area has to offer.
Taking a ride down the Colonial Historic Parkway, windows down and wind in the ears, Ferris took off for Yorktown with a destination at Riverwalk Landing.
Riverwalk Landing is a mix of riverfront dining, outdoor recreation, boutique shops, and events — all with a beautiful view of the York River.
The first stop at the Riverwalk was Gangsta Dog. The locally-owned pet shop has “great stuff for really good dogs.” Filled with toys, supplies and treats, Ferris made it a mission to con a few new munchies from the full-service dog bakery.
Next was lunch on the patio at Water Street Grille. The service allowed for pets and even provided a water dish.
A walk down by the water was perfect for meeting other visitors and pet companions. A large grassy area provided shade and space to roll around in.
To end our day, Ferris received a doggie dessert at Ben and Jerry’s. The mess was worth it since we made new friends sitting out enjoying the sunny weather before the ride home.
With so many things to do, Ferris will have to return to Yorktown Riverwalk Landing soon!
