William & Mary’s Lewis B. Puller Veterans Clinic has announced two upcoming “Military Mondays” events as part of its partnership program with a local Starbucks that allows veterans and service members to meet with attorneys and law students to receive free legal counsel.
The program takes place in some form each Monday, with two afternoons each month designated for “Claims over Coffee.”
At these sessions, a representative from the clinic will meet with veterans and service members by appointment to discuss legal matters including benefits, compensation, separation planning and discharge upgrade claims – all free of charge.
The other two Mondays each month are devoted to “For Love of Country Community Conversations,” which are topical presentations aimed at veterans, service members and their families meant to inspire discussion within the community.
“Military Mondays” in both of its forms began last June, born of a collaboration between clinic director Patty Roberts and Starbucks’ Armed Forces Network. It is currently being piloted in the Hampton Roads area and may eventually be expanded to other areas of the state and country.
Upcoming “Claims over Coffee” sessions will take place from 1 to 5 p.m. Nov. 30 and Dec. 14 at the Starbucks located at McLaws Circle.
Appointments are required and can be made by emailing veterans@wm.edu or calling 757-221-7443.
