WILLIAMSBURG — After almost ten years of operation, Culture Cafe announced it would be closing its doors on Dec. 21, but still plans to stay connected to the community.
The announcement was made this week on Facebook on Dec. 15, with the business thanking its staff and the community for the support it had given them over the years.
“Yes, Culture Cafe’s last day of service will be Dec. 21. This decision was not made lightly. Like many small, independent restaurants, we encountered unforeseen challenges over the past few years. At the same time, the experience brought extraordinary moments
of connection, generosity, and joy from longtime regulars to first-time guests,” said Louise Wood, owner of Culture Cafe.
“As we close this chapter, we are choosing to focus on the gratitude we feel for the people who walked through our doors, celebrated milestones with us, and made Culture Cafe what it was. It has truly been a privilege to serve Williamsburg,” Wood continued.
On its website, Culture Cafe described itself as “a place for food lovers, craft cocktail connoisseurs, avocado toast eaters, eggs-at-night people, those looking for a place to work while having a latte, and those who wanted to enjoy wine and cheese curds.” The business was established in 2016.
The cafe also prided itself on its decor — the vintage light bulbs, interesting books and antique mosaic tiles that added to the atmosphere of the space — a style it called “cool urban” in a 2023 interview with WYDaily. The menu featured fresh local ingredients designed to “push culinary boundaries while maintaining a deep respect for simplicity and traditional cooking methods.”
While the brick-and-mortar location may be closing its doors, Wood said that the cafe plans to continue to participate in the Williamsburg Farmers Market and looks forward to staying connected to the community in that way.
