HISTORIC TRIANGLE — Fall is here, and Williamsburg breweries are ready to raise a glass.
On Sat. 27, three local favorites, Virginia Beer Company, Precarious Beer Project and Alewerks are pulling out all the stops with a full day of seasonal brews, live music and festive fun.
VBC kicks things off at noon with a day-long celebration of all things Oktoberfest. Guests can snag a special edition “barrel” glass and sip on four German-style beers:
- Oktoberfest, a Brussels Beer Challenge Gold Medal winner Märzen Lager
- Altbier
- House Rules, a German-Style Pilsner
- and Griffin Gold, a Kolsch-Style Ale, also known as William & Mary’s official beer.
The Wandering Sausage food truck will serve German-inspired plates like cucumber salad and brats with sauerkraut. Festivities also include stain painting with Paint on Pottery, which will be held from noon to 3 p.m., live music by Hailey Reese from 2 to 5 p.m., and The Zachary Salsberry Trio from 6-9 p.m. A dog costume contest will also be held from noon to 5 p.m.
Over at Precarious, the spotlight shines on Oktarious, its famous house Oktoberfest brew, available on draft in festive 20-ounce mugs or in four-packs to go. Festivities will take place from noon to 8 p.m., and guests can enjoy live music by Troy Breslow from 2 to 4 p.m. and Oktoberfest inspired specials from Electric Circus Taco Bar.
If pumpkin spice is more your flavor, Alewerks’ Pumpkin Fest is the place to be. The brewery’s iconic Pumpkin Ale is already on tap across Virginia, but Sept. 27 marks the release of three small-batch seasonal specialties:
- Pumpkin Latte
- Pumpkin Porter
- Chocolate Pumpkin
The limited releases won’t last long, but fans can expect them to stick around through early October.
Alewerks will also host the Junior Woman’s Club of Williamsburg’s seventh annual Beers that Benefit fundraiser from 3 to 7 p.m.
From pumpkin to pilsner, Williamsburg’s breweries blend tradition with creativity to give locals and visitors alike a reason to celebrate the season. Prost!
